About image
From an early age, my passion for sports and broadcasting was unmistakable. My parents first discovered this when I “borrowed” their cassette tape recorder in a feeble attempt to imitate legendary Detroit Pistons commentator George Blaha in the late 1970s. Rather than erasing that amateur “podcast,” they wisely preserved it—perhaps as future leverage whenever I stepped out of line.

Growing up, I spent countless hours in barber shops passionately debating why my favorite teams should perform better, all while mentally cataloging signature sports moments for future use. That enthusiasm never waned—it only matured.

I later earned a Bachelor of Science in Mass Media Communications from Oral Roberts University in 1996. However, it took time before I found the right outlet to fully express my perspectives on the sports world. That opportunity finally arrived when I connected with DJ Mike, whose vision helped spark the creation of Sports Roundup With Hoss Martin on November 23, 2010, under the banner of Chris Mar Studios. At long last, I was able to channel more than three decades of built-up passion into meaningful sports commentary.

Since then, I have continued to share insights, analysis, and reflections through this platform—offering blog entries, statistics, and curated content for fellow sports enthusiasts. (And for the record, I still strongly advise against asking my parents about that original tape.)

Professionally, I expanded my broadcasting experience with The Weather Channel from 2015 to 2022, followed by my work with Bally Sports/FanDuel Sports Network from 2022 to 2026, further refining my voice and presence in the industry.
